Auto Insurance

Many people have an auto insurance policy, but lack the understanding of what those coverages mean. Drivers are also unsure what to do when a need arises to use their insurance. Review the coverage below and be confident you will protect you when a need arises.

An Automobile Insurance policy is essentially a collection of multiple specific coverages.

Liability Coverage
Liability coverage pays for damages to other vehicles or property when you are at fault. Texas law mandates liability coverage while you operate a motor vehicle on public roads.

Collision Coverage
Collision coverage will cover your vehicle if you collide into something. Whether you collide with other cars, run into a wall, barrier or bridge.

Other-than-Collision
Other-than-Collision is commonly referred to as “Comprehensive Automobile Coverage”. It is coverage for damage your car may experience by circumstances that are outside of your control, for example hail, fire, theft, flood or contact with a wild animal.

Medical Payments
Medical Payments coverage pays medical expenses for occupants inside of your vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. While your occupants are entering and exiting the vehicle they are protect as well. As the policy holder you and your named insured also have coverage while biking or walking alongside a roadway.

Personal Injury Protection
When purchasing a policy in Texas you will have a choice between Medical Payments Coverage or Personal Injury Coverage also called PIP. Both coverages will pay you and your passengers, however PIP will pay for additional things like lost wages and other nonmedical costs. In Texas your policy will include PIP unless you specify in writing that you are declining the coverage.
